WHAT ART MAKES US DO
Charlotte Laubard“One day we may find out that there was no art, only medicine.”

Drawing on recent developments in visual studies and visual anthropology, we will explore how artworks can serve as "social agents," whose role in our social interactions changes depending on the contexts and intentions they are asked to mediate/perform.
Inspired by the experience of the New Patrons initiative, which gives creation a different social role, we will analyze how artifacts can not only heighten sensitivity and expand the field of consciousness but also protect, heal, provide access to invisible entities, influence the course of life, resolve situations, affirm common values, commemorate, gather, and celebrate…
This Think.Zone follows the seminar "Technologies of Enchantment," dedicated to studying how artifacts invest various effects of presence to create favorable conditions for an encounter with their recipients, leading to the collective organization of an exhibition at LiveInYourHead in May 2024.
This Think.Zone will be conducted in French.
