Simone Weil-POST

Thomas Hirschhorn

My project for Lab.Zone consists of inviting students to engage in both theoretical and practical work in a short workshop that I call "Simone Weil-POST."

The theoretical part involves discussing — based on selected quotations — the philosophy of Simone Weil. What unique and radical thought does she propose? What are the key concepts through which she intervenes in the philosophical field? What can we learn from Simone Weil’s thinking for our 'Art' mission?

The practical part involves making "POSTs." The "POSTs" are forms I have developed to bring my 'analog' artistic skills into the realm of 'digital' social media. By creating "Simone Weil-POSTs," I propose that the students participating in the workshop share their reflections on Simone Weil. These POST forms are love declarations in the aesthetic of improvised and precarious collages on cardboard — just as I create myself in collaboration with the newspaper Le Courrier for the "Pavillon Simone Weil."

Workshop ambitions:

  1. I am offering this workshop to introduce students to my project "Pavillon Simone Weil" in Geneva in 2026.
  2. I want to share my love for Simone Weil, and thereby give students the opportunity or the chance to discover and take an interest in her work.
  3. By proposing the creation of "POSTs," I want to encourage students to think about and create their own forms of intervention in both the field of art and the field of social media.
